CEBU CITY, July 7 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-7) started the payout for 1,277 waitlisted family beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in Cebu province on June 3, 2020.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala led the payout in some municipalities, namely: Consolacion, Compostela, Olson and Lilian.

The family beneficiaries received P6,000 cash aid.

“There are still around 149,579 waitlisted family beneficiaries in the region who are expected to receive their cash aid," Geamala added.

The waitlisted beneficiaries are those eligible low-income families who were not included and provided with emergency subsidy aid by DSWD and other government agency for the first tranche.

Some 585,376 estimated low-income households in Cebu province and highly urbanized cities are initially qualified for the second tranche which is equivalent to about 3.5 billion.

Meanwhile, DSWD-7 has already credited the emergency cash subsidy through SAP for the 147,406 Pantawid household beneficiaries with cash cards in Cebu on June 11.

Currently, there is an ongoing distribution of the second tranche to 2,136 Pantawid non-cash holders for the SAP in Cebu. (pia7/hfg with report from DSWD7)
