LUNA, Apayao, Aug. 2(PIA) -- The Apayao Provincial Police Office has created a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to look into the circumstances on death of former Flora town Mayor Richard De San Jose.
Apayao PPO Director PCol. Byron Tegui-in said De San Jose was shot by still unidentified gunmen while having a drinking spree with his construction workers at around 9 :00 PM last July 28 along Sampaguita Street, Poblacion West in Flora town.
According to witnesses, two gunmen wearing bonnets, jackets and camouflage pants armed with rifles and short arms appeared at the place of incident, shot De San Jose then fled.
The victim was rushed to the Flora District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians. Hot pursuit was immediately conducted by the personnel of the Flora Municipal Police Station.
Tegui-in said that police recovered from the crime scene an empty shell for an M16 rifle and another bullet of still unknown caliber.
The Apayao PPO created the SITG to focus and probe the death of De San Jose, a former vce Mayor andthe designated Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative of the municipality. They are working with the Flora Municipal Police Station, the CIDG-Apayao and the Regional Intelligence Unit of the Police Regional Office Cordillera.
Tegu-in said they are looking on all possible angles of the case that include previous old grudge revenge, land dispute, politics and business.-related
