CEBU, Aug 9 (PIA)  – The Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) announces that if all plans push through, they will be able to open the gates of the Bantayan Airport in Cebu by December 2020.

In a post in the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Official Facebook page, MCIAA’s General Manager Steve Dicdican said that he has inspected the status of the ongoing construction at the Bantayan Airport on  August 7.

The airport is currently undergoing construction with its planned extension. It is also completing the now partially concreted runway, as well as putting up of perimeter fence.

"The entire length of the runway is almost fully excavated except for patches of areas with hard rock. One of the segments is completely concreted already. The two other segments will be completed in two months’ time,” Dicdican said.

By the end of the year, the airport terminal project will be fully completed, and the 1.2-kilometer runway will be ready for full utilization by December 2020.

"We plan to finish everything by November, so we can have a December inauguration," Dicdican added (VQR/PIA-IDPD with information from DOTr).
