NAUJAN, Oriental Mindoro, Aug. 9 (PIA) -- The Department of Agriculture (DA) through its Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) recently granted P25,000 cash loan to eligible farmers of this town.
After the recent approval of the agency’s Expanded SURE Aid and Recovery project or SURE Covid-19 financing program, 260 farmers from this town availed said loan with no collateral, zero interest, and payable in 10 years.
The SURE Covid-19 loan provided by DA is part of its Plant, Plant Plant Program or the ‘Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat’ (ALPAS) Kontra Covid-19 program which primarily aims to increase food adequacy in the country.
According to Mayor Mark Marcos, this aid from the government will help the farmers to continue their farming activities in order to contribute and sustain food production as these farmers are also considered frontliners in the Covid-19 pandemic.
The local chief executive added that the implementation of this program was materialized through the constant coordination of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAgO) to concerned government agencies and other stakeholders. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
