Biliran allocates P42-M DRRM fund for 2021

NAVAL, Biliran, August 22 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Biliran allocated some P42-M for the local disaster risk reduction and management fund (LDRRMF) for year 2021.

The proposed 2021 Biliran LDRRM fund was unanimously approved after its deliberation during the August 13 Biliran PDRRMC meeting held at the Biliran PDRRMC Operation Center in Naval.

The PDRRMC meeting was presided by Vice-Governor Brigido C. Caneja III.

The 2021 Biliran LDRRMF is composed of three components with the corresponding cost as follows:  Preparedness - P4,427,265.21; Mitigation - P25M; and Response and Recovery - P12,611,685.09 or a total of P42,038,950.30.

The proposed fund was approved by Biliran Governor Rogelio J. Espina.

Items included in the Preparedness component are: Trainings and Capability Building Seminars with budget of P1.5M for incident command system, EOC training, health emergency and fire and earthquake drills for disaster volunteers, PDRRMO staff, PDRRMC and MDRRMC members.

This component aimed towards a well-informed stakeholder on disaster and climate change; improved skills, techniques, work output; improved management of operation centers; handling of victims; and provision of relief assistance.

Other items under Preparedness component include the acquisition of one (1) unit ambulance with a budget of P2.3M, and stockpiling of emergency relief assistance with an allocation of P627,265.21.

The Mitigation component, on the other hand, include the construction of engineering structural measures like flood control, sea walls, bridges, canals and rechanneling works. Sub-items include the construction of drainage in Poblacion, Almeria - P2M; construction of drainage in Tubig Guinoo, Kawayan - P1M; construction/improvement of drainage in Poblacion, Kawayan - P5M; construction of seawall in Buying, Kawayan - P2M; and construction of flood control in Sitio Lomboy, Calumpang, Naval - P15M.

Under Response and Recovery component, the reserved amount of P12,611,685.09 will be spent during calamities. (ldl/rsv/PIA-Biliran)
