Build Build Build program continue amid COVID 19 - Asec Gonzales

MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Aug. 12 (PIA) - The Build Build Build program of the government continues amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Assistant Secretary Jonji Gonzales, Office of the Presidential Adviser for the Visayas said in the latest episode of Network Briefing with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

“Patuloy ang Build Build Build project sa Visayas,” he said. In Western Visayas alone, the the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) through Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has completed two projects in the Iloilo Commercial Port Complex which will boost trade and tourism in the province of Iloilo.

He enumerated other infrastructure projects being implemented in the Visayas such as port, bypass road, flood control, airport and tourism road project.

The 2.14 km bypass road worth P92 million is 80% accomplished and to be completed in November this year. Meanwhile, the flood control project is targeted to be completed in October this year and is worth P55 million, he said.

In region 10, on the other hand, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-10 reported to have completed certain projects particularly the 4-storey 20-classroom PAGCOR school building in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental to address student congestion in Misamis Occidental National High School.

Another completed project was the flood control structure along Usugan River, Lower Usugan, Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.

Farmers attested that water from the mountains used to wash out their crops during heavy rains. They used to wait until the weather is fair to work on their crops again and wait for more months until they get their harvest.

Meanwhile, DPWH-Bukidnon second engineering district turned-over three multi-purpose buildings - one TESDA building and two covered courts - in the municipalities of Kadingilan, Don Carlos and Dangcagan, all in Bukidnon on July 14, 2020.

The municipal government of Kadingilan is also a recipient of TESDA Building equipped with a faculty room, activity/workshop room, ramp, corridor, wash area, and two toilets.

DPWH-10 also disclosed that it received 35 additional new heavy equipment in July this year, which would be distributed to various DPWH District Engineering Offices in the region for the augmentation of their highway maintenance operations.

The region also received eight units of hydraulic excavator, nine units of wheel loader, 10 units of road grader, three units of air street sweeper truck, and one unit each for prime mover with trailer, self loading truck, man lift truck, boom truck, and truck-mounted crane. (JMORucat/PIA10)
