DOLE gives P9.3-M for COVID-19 affected Capiceños

ROXAS CITY, Capiz, Aug. 6 (PIA) – Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – 6 director Engr. Cyril Ticao turned over a cheque worth P9,365,450.00 to the Capiz provincial government, Aug. 5, as part of the agency’s post COVID-19 intervention to Capiceño informal workers affected by the health crisis.

“I hope this will really help our constituents in the province,” Ticao said to Capiz Governor Esteban Evan Contreras during a simple turnover ceremony that was witnessed by some DOLE regional and provincial employees at the Provincial Capitol here.

He stressed that the assistance will be for identified Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Atin Disadvantaged (TUPAD) workers who will be paid P395.00 daily for the 10 days work program.

The beneficiaries must observe the health protocols like social distancing, wearing of face mask and regular washing of hands to avoid contracting the infection in the process of performing their tasks as TUPAD worker.

The program has about 2,371 would-be beneficiaries in the province based on DOLE Provincial Office records.

“This will go a long way as a lot of Capiceños will avail from this program amid the pandemic as I thanked Sec. Silvestre Bello III and DOLE family,” stressed Contreras in response and appreciation to the financial assistance.

The governor was with Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Capiz manager John Leo Marco Beldia during the handing over of the amount.

The province’s displaced and sea-based Filipino workers affected by the pandemic will also benefit from the DOLE – regional office’s Financial Assistance for Displaced and Seabased Filipino Workers Affected by the COVID-19 (DOLE-AKAP for OFWs).

Ticao noted that about P4.6-million was recently received by the regional office for the AKAP program in the region that will give each of the qualified beneficiaries a P10,000.00 cash assistance. (JBG/AAL/PIA Capiz)
