DOST gives 1,000 face shields to Ilocos Sur police

VIGAN CITY, Aug. 25 (PIA) – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through its Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) here, provided 1,000 pieces of face shields for police personnel, especially those assigned at the provincial boundaries.

PSTC-Ilocos Sur Provincial Director Ramon Sumabat delivered the face shields to the Ilocos Sur Police Provincial Office (ISPPO) at Camp Elpidio Quirino in Bulag, Bantay, Ilocos Sur recently and received by Police Major Reynaldo Mendoza, Jr. who extended his gratitude to DOST for these personal protective equipment (PPE).

Provincial Director Sumabat hopes that the face shields will aid in the day-to-day operations of the frontliners.

He also looks forward to a collaboration with the ISPPO in the implementation of science and technology programs and projects of the agency most especially in the identified end local communist armed conflict (ELCAC) communities in Ilocos Sur.

To date, the PSTC-Ilocos Sur has already distributed a total of 1,300 pieces of face shields in the province which were given to ISPPO and to the City Government of Candon.

The S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Program aims to stimulate and entice talented Grade 12 students to pursue productive lifetime careers in science and technology.
