DPWH turns-over new disaster-resilient school building to Maasin City DepEd

MAASIN CITY, Aug. 29 (PIA) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed and turned-over recently a three-classroom building to the Department of Education (DepEd) - Maasin City Division.

The completed multi-grade school located in Barangay Agustin, this city was realized   under the Basic Educational Facilities Fund of the education department, Engineer Ma. Margarita of the DPWH-Southern Leyte District Engineering Office said.

The P8.79 million new school building is disaster-resilient based on the upgraded design agreed between DPWH and DepEd, Engr. Junia said.

The turnover ceremony was participated in by Mayor Nacional V. Mercado; Engr. Vincent Sy, DPWH planning and design section chief; Dr. Genis Murallos, DepEd Maasin City Division Superintendent, education department heads, local/barangay officials and some barangay residents.

With the completion of the said school building, teachers can now use the classrooms instead of holding their classes with their pupils in make-shift classrooms. (ldl/rgc/PIA8-Southern Leyte)
