Luneta Park to re-open starting Aug. 24, but for exercise activities only

PASIG CITY, August 22 (PIA) -- After more 15 days of closure, a portion of Luneta Park has been reopened, but only for exercise activities.

In a Facebook post, the National Parks and Development Committee (NPDC) wrote that only the Promenade is open for exercise beginning August 24 from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. The Promenade is the walkway that encloses the park’s Central Lagoon.

Visitors must fill out an RSVP form provided at the NDPC’s Facebook page and a health declaration form before entering the park.

However, the RSVP does not guarantee entry to the park as the NDPC may control and limit the number of the people inside it in observance of health and safety protocols.

“NPDC reserves the right to refuse anyone entry and to escort violators out of the park to ensure public safety,” they said.

Other guidelines for the public to bear in mind are:

·      The park’s entrance and exit areas will be limited to the Rizal Park Visitor’s Center and Senior Citizen’s Garden, both along T.M. Kalaw Street.

·      The exercise route will be one-way and counterflowing will not be allowed, with one-way signs on the paths to encourage visitors to observe physical distancing.

·      Those not wearing masks and/or have a temperature of 37.5°C and above will not be allowed to enter the park.

·      Mass gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited.

·      Free limited parking at the two designated areas in the park is also allowed for visitors. Car owners can only park their vehicles once in a day.

·      Visitors are urged to dispose of their trash properly and are banned from spitting in the park. Violators will be fined.

·      The vending of products and services inside Luneta is still prohibited.

NPDC also reminds the public to adhere to the park guidelines and map for everyone’s safety. Guests are also required to check-in with a QR code.
