Micro leaders adopt new normal to cope with Covid-19 pandemic

AURORA, Zamboanga del Sur , August 22 (PIA) –To cope with the changes brought by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19),  the Aurora Integrated Multi-Purpose Cooperative (AIMCoop) started to adopt the new normal and new environment.

Thus disclosed Chief Executive Officer Emeritus Pacenciano Tomarong during the virtual teleconference dubbed ‘Kumustahan with micro leaders and Hisgot-hisgot sa Kooperatiba’ held recently in its main office in barangay Poblacion here.

The ‘Kumustahan with micro leaders and Hisgot-hisgot sa Kooperatiba’ is one of the highlights of the 53rd founding anniversary celebration of the cooperative which carries the theme “"Cooperative Business: Rising Challenges a New Reality” which runs from August 17-22.

During the virtual teleconference, the officers enumerated the significant accomplishments of the cooperative for the past years and the future plans for the next years and tackled important issues of the organization.

Tomarong said in this time of public health crisis,  the cooperative movement has adopted the new normal by using the digital  platform so that business continuity will not be hampered and the health and safety protocols of the micro leaders and members will be properly observed to comply with the government’s containment and mitigation measures.

With this shift to digital, Tomarong said micro leaders must learn how to use social media and mobile-based applications to understand their behavior and be able to come up with new ideas to serve them.

“Utilizing the digital platform is one of the challenges that the cooperative movement is facing today,”  Tomarong said adding that the technology is very important in doing cooperative business where the micro leaders and members always get involved and connected especially in this time of pandemic.

Tomarong said even before the pandemic, the cooperative business has already planned to venture into digital platform to facilitate interactions between the officers and micro leaders.

He also said that AIMCoop’s BancNet application for registration was approved by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) this year to provide fast and efficient services to their members.

He also encouraged the micro leaders to continue exploring new development in their respective areas saying that it is the vision of President Rodrigo Duterte to  empower MSMEs by increasing their capacities to innovate, improving their access to digital infrastructure, enhancing their digital capacities,  competitiveness and resilience.

“Our cooperative movement continue to strengthen its programs and services to better serve our members,” he concluded. (NBE/ GCC/ PIA/Zamboanga del Sur)
