CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 3 (PIA) -- Police LtGen. Camilo Cascolan officially takes over as the new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday during the Change of Command Ceremony held at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
In a report by PTV News, it said Cascolan gladly accepted the responsibilities and challenges as he took on the helm of the police force and set his priority in boosting morale within its ranks.
“I will lead the PNP along with the vision of a highly capable, effective and credible PNP that provides better and more reliable, more efficient and more effective police services,” the official said.
Cascolan, likewise, expressed optimism that the PNP will regain the public’s trust amid the controversies surrounding the institution.
He also asked for the continuous cooperation of the public for the PNP to properly perform its duty.
“We will do what is right, we will do what is proper and we will do what is just,” he said.
Meanwhile, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año earlier expressed confidence in the ability of Cascolan.
“I am confident that with your equally remarkable knowledge, skills and reputation you will do your best to charting a clearer race ahead not only for the PNP but for the nation as a whole,” Año said.
Malacañang has pointed out the short term Cascolan will be serving as PNP Chief since he is set to retire on Nov. 10 this year, but the Palace expressed trust he will fulfill his duties ably. (PIA NCR)
