He said the culture of discipline has been instrumental, even in the time of pandemic, citing discipline and order have always been a as part of Marikina residents' way of life, then and now.

Another guiding principle the city is following is the institutionalized competence following the whole-of-institution approach, which aligns the city government’s response with personnel equipped with skills and knowledge in performing their tasks.

Teodoro shared some of the city's best practices including its aggressive and logical response, with having bias on timely response, as well as the creation of a well-coordinated Interagency Task Force Against COVID-19, headed by the mayor himself.

The local chief executive expressed that the city’s success in the fight against COVID-19 was purely guided by the national government, through the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

He added that the local government also heeded the advice of Tracing Czar and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on increasing the tracing capacity.

Naking kami kay Mayor Magalong. Nag increase kami ng contact tracing team. Sumusunod lang ho kami sa IATF,” he said.

Mayor Marcy also mentioned the collaborative actions they take with other local government units and following the whole-of-society approach, and prompt adaptation on responses.

After the forum, Mayor Marcy joined the team and visited the city’s molecular diagnostic laboratory and the Marikina Hotel, which was converted into a community and isolation facility. The team also visited the PMFTC (Philip Morris) and Ayala Malls Marikina and presented their best practices in the fight against COVID-19. (PIA-NCR)
