Davao City LGU fetes 102 retirees

DAVAO CITY Sept. 23 (PIA)-A total of 102 retirees were recognized Tuesday in a Pasasalamat sa mga Kawani 2020 online, the biggest number of retirees so far, including three department heads and 13 other employees who died while working in public service. 

Lemuel Ortonio, chief of the HRMO said the retirees also included three department heads namely, Maria Luisa Bermudo, chief of the City Social Services and Development Office for rendering 28 years, Maribeth Lomactod, chief of the City Economic Enterprise Office, 34 years and Dr. Josephine Villafuerte, the chief of the City Health Office, for 37 years. 

He said that it was the first time the HRMO shifted to the online platform in recognizing retiring employees in years, because of the pandemic.

Ortonio bared that aside from the service incentive, the city has allocated P50,000 each for every retiree as a gesture of thanks in working for the progress of the city.

“Every retiree will receive the service incentive and additional P50,000 from the City Government, a big help for them to enjoy their retirement,” Ortonio said.

The online thanksgiving for the retiring City Government workers was graced by City Administrator Atty Zuleika Lopez and Adams Torres, director of the Civil Service Commission XI. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
