DOH establishes 'ONELINE' command center

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Sept. 6 (PIA) - - To provide a unified correct and appropriate information and responses on inquiries relative to COVID-19 and other health related issues and concerns, the Department of Health (DOH) region 2 has established a command call center.

Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay says the ONELINE Command Center will address referral system issues on COVID-19 cases and other health concerns. (by PIA) 

Val Aaron Taguinin, point person, said the region's command call center is 'Offering Non-stop services and Empowered Linkages In Nation's health Emergencies and disasters (ONELINE).

He said the call center serves as the bridge between the stakeholders and the department which will function as the referral system for COVID-19 to be admitted in appropriate health facility for proper monitoring and case management. 

"The health sector is now confronted with challenge of disruption of health services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One of which is the availability of different platforms providing non-verified information which mislead the public resulting to misconceptions and wrong health practices," he said.

Taguinin also said that the unified call center center aims to provide quality, accessible, timely and people-centered response activities in relation to COVID-19 and other health programs and services.

He further said the center aims to provide quick response activities on health emergencies such as transport, outbreak investigation, logistics, and manpower augmentation, and to maximize critical care utilization through proper referral of patients to an appropriate health facility.

"The command call center will strengthen the linkages and networking with stakeholders through exchange of information and data. Also, this is an avenue for proper referral of patients for each of the case classifications for proper management," Taguinin said.

On his part, health Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay is optimistic that the ONLINE center will address the issue of referral system of COVID-19 cases, as well as facilitate immediate response of local government units, enable feedback mechanism from the public, and ensure proper channeling of public health concerns.
