DPWH fast-tracks completion of 3 COVID-19 facilities in Pasay City

CALOOCAN CITY, Sept. 2 (PIA) – The Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) is rushing the construction of three COVID-19 facilities in Pasay City.

Among them is the 72-bed capacity COVID-19 quarantine facility at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City is being fast-tracked for completion.

In a statement, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the conversion of 18 container vans into 72-unit room isolation facility is ongoing as part of the 23 additional facilities being implemented by DPWH to augment COVID-19 bed capacity in Metro Manila.

“As of now, 15 container vans were delivered on site and we have accomplished 45 percent of the project,” Villar said.

DPWH National Capital Region is also converting 40 container vans into a 160-unit room quarantine facility near WMall along Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City which is now 75 percent completed.

Another project which will have 276 cubicles, and five (5) nursing stations is ongoing at the Folk Arts Theater. The project is now at 65 percent accomplishment rate.

DPWH earlier completed the Pasay City Sports Complex Quarantine Facility which has 62 cubicles, a nursing station, a working area, and an x-ray room.

“These additional quarantine facilities are just few of the projects under Phase 1. Construction of five (5) more with 456 cubicles, 2 nursing stations, 2 working areas, and 2 x-ray rooms in Pasay City will be under Phase 2 and 3,” Villar said. (DPWH/PIA-NCR)
