NAUJAN, Oriental Mindoro, Sept. 17 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Oriental Mindoro inaugurated the various infrastructure projects amounting to P9.78 million in five barangays of this town on September 15.
Gov. Humerlito A. Dolor led the inauguration of infrastructure projects in the following areas: fully constructed flood control structure in Sitio Bagto, Brgy. Arangin; concreted road gap between the boundaries of Brgys. Mulawin and Arangin; concreted road project in the portion of Brgy. Aurora as well as in Brgy. Panikian going to Brgy. Del Pilar.
The western part of Naujan is prone to flooding especially during rainy seasons since the area is surrounded by rivers, thus construction of flood control structure like gabion has been prioritized by the provincial government.
The purpose of gabion wall in Brgy. Arangin is to control land sliding on road sides as well as erosion and scouring on the river banks during flood. Gabion serves as primary support to soil erosion by providing the function of breast walls in the river banks.
Meanwhile, along with Gov. Doloe, also present during the inauguration were Provincial Board Members Edel Ilano, Aleli Casubuan, Marion Marcos and Naujan Vice Mayor Sheryl Morales and the Sangguniang Bayan Members of Naujan. Barangay chairmen of the five barangays also witnessed the inauguration.
Naujan is a first-class municipality with a population of more than 102,998 people based on the 2015 census of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The five barangays belong to the town’s 7th District in the western part of the municipality. (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
