Quirino Police seizes over 2,000 board feet illegal lumber in Aglipay

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Sept. 2 (PIA)—Around 2,221 board feet of illegally cut sawn lumber (red lauan-mayapis) were apprehended by the joint personnel of Aglipay Municipal Police Station, Regional Integrity Monitoring Enforcement Team, PRO2 led by PCPT Carmelo B Palos and the Quirino Provincial Intelligence Unit yesterday at Barangay Victoria, Aglipay.

Loaded in a white Isuzu forward truck with plate number RBH 282, the said lumber were seized by the police operatives while conducting an intensified anti-illegal logging operation in the said place in fulfillment with the QPPO’s mandate to maintain and ensure the implementation of the Pulis Makakalikasan program.

Pulis Makakalikasan has been a practice of Quirino PPO to revitalize the ecosystem at the height of its services to the public.

The operation also yielded the arrest of Redentor Silao y Avellanoza; Marjorie Silao  y Avelianoza; Jaynard Ladia y Benigno; Jerick James Tiburcio y Baltazar; Francis Ladia y Benigno; Donato Abon y Kimmayong; and Regie Reyes y Nicolas. They are all residents of Barangay Palacian, Aglipay.

In the press release posted in the QPPO facebook account, it stated that during the apprehension of the suspects, a cellular phone was confiscated from Marjorie Silao where the operatives discovered a conversation thru text messages that revealed the alleged involvement of one PCpl Grengo Frank Browner Eustaquio y Laureta who is assigned at Cabarroguis Municipal Police Station.

Pending investigation on command responsibility, the Acting Chief of Police of Cabarroguis MPS was administratively relieved.  Eustaquio was also relieved and reassigned to Quirino PPO pending investigation.

In his statement, Provincial Director Renato B. Mallonga stressed that the Quirino PNP under his leadership strongly adheres to the strict implementation of the PNP’s Internal Cleansing Program.

“The concept of the PNP’s Internal Cleansing aims to totally change the negative image of the PNP organization that has been destroyed due to some controversies committed by some PNP scalawags,” Mallonga said.

Director Mallonga further advised all PNP personnel to perform their duties at the best possible standards and never engage in any illegal activities because the law exempts no one. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
