Bayanihan 2 to boost TTMFs in Cordillera

BAGUIO CITY, Oct. 24 (PIA) –The Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2 is set to boost COVID-19 Treatment and Monitoring Facilities (TTMFs) in the Cordillera as TTMF occupancy rate in Baguio City hits ‘danger zone.’

The region is allocated a total of P50 million for the construction, renovation, and upgrading of TTMFs, the Department of Health-Cordillera reported during the Joint Cordillera Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Cordillera Regional Task Force COVID-19 meeting on October 22.

Of the P50M fund which is yet to be downloaded,   Baguio City and the provinces of Abra, Apayao, and Benguet will be allocated P10M   for their TTMFs while P5M each is allocated for Ifugao and Mountain Province TTMFs.

Fund allocation for the different provincial and city TTMFs is based on the number of recorded COVID-19 cases. 

As of October 21, Baguio City is in the ‘danger zone’ at 83.78%TTMF occupancy rate with 155 out of the 185 isolation beds already occupied  while the  nearby province of Benguet enters the ‘warning zone’ at 43.50% occupancy rate with 107 of 246 isolations beds already in use.

The rest of the provinces in the region are still in the ‘safe zone’ with Abra at 5.26% occupancy rate (4 out of 76 isolation beds occupied) , Apayao at 30% (6 of 20 beds in use), Kalinga at 24.09% (20 of 83 beds utilized), and Mountain Province at 8.70% (2 out of 23 beds occupied).

The province of Ifugao is still working on the completion of TTMFs in the municipalities of Lamut and Alfonso Lista.

The Cordillera currently has 31 TTMFs with a 46.45% occupancy rate or 294 out of 633 isolation beds already occupied.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the different local government units in the Cordillera have also been constructing quarantine and isolation facilities to augment available TTMFs.(JDP/JJPM-PIA CAR)
