BFP-Ifugao implements 'OLP On the Road' system

LAGAWE, Ifugao, Oct. 30(PIA)- -The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here, in adapting to the new normal due to  COVID-19 pandemic, is now implementing  Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan (OLP) On the Road Real Time Monitoring using Google Map  sharing application.

Information Officers SFO1 Cecil Indopia of BFP-Ifugao and FO1 Madelyn Dulay of BFP-Lagawe reported in a radio program that their office   has been using the technology since the last week of September riding on the live virtual opportunity provided by Google and in abiding with health safety protocols.

Google Maps is one of the most widely used services nowadays as it is an incredibly versatile tool which is quick and easy to handle starting from measuring the distance between any two locations to providing directions to drivers, and users and  it helps users in various ways.

With the OLP system, all roving activities will be monitored by the regional office, provincial and district offices through online and real-time activity monitoring utilizing the Google Map Share Location as host. Roving activities begin at 8:30AM and ends at 5PM everyday subject to actual schedule in the implementation plan of thestation.

Indopia and Dulay explained that in the old OLP, they conducted face to face activities such as distribution of flyers, conduct of drills, house to house survey, ocular inspection of the area with the Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) and barangay officials, training of CFAG and the crafting of Community Fire Plan, Mapping and Tagging.

In this new OLP On the Road, fire trucks will be roving for information and education activities like announcing fire safety tips. They go to the barangays with different topics each week or every two weeks. IEC activities are also done online or thru social media like facebook.

They reported that during the first week of the OLP on the Road implementation from September 21-27, 2020, they discussed Fire Safety at Home. Succeeding   topics were Electrical Safety, Fire Safety in the Workplace and Fire Safety during typhoons. Current subject matter is Fire Safety during the All Saints Day and All Souls under Oplan Kaluluwa.

In the line up are Fire Safety or Oplan Paalala: IwasPaputok from November 6-30, 2020 and the Fire Safety Oplan Paalala: Iwas Paputok/Electrical Safety for Christmas Decorations from December 1-31, 2020. (JDP/DBC-PIA CAR)
