In Pangasinan, the first, second and third batches for the seminar of contact tracers have been conducted in seven separate venues in the province this October.

DILG Regional Director James Fadrilan,  who led the orientation virtually, said the seminar  aims to teach the newly-hired contact tracers the basic skills and competencies before deployment.

In an earlier interview via the Kapihan sa PIA (Philippine Information Agency), DILG Provincial Director Paulino Lalata Jr. said out of the 50,000 contact tracers needed for the country, 805 are allotted for Pangasinan.

Lalata bared that responsibilities of contact tracers include conducting interviews, profiling, and performing an initial public health risk assessment of COVID-19 cases and their identified close contacts; referring the close contacts to isolation facilities; and conducting enhanced contact tracing.

Under the guidelines drafted by the DILG, the contact tracers will earn a minimum of Php 18,784.00 per month in a contract of service status.

They will also be provided with personal protective equipment.

The hiring of additional contact tracers in the country was made possible with the signing of the “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” or Bayanihan 2 Law by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. (JCR/AMB/RPM/PIA Pangasinan)
