TAGAYTAY CITY, Cavite Oct 2 (PIA) -- The BAGSAKAN Special Project held its 18th activity here at La Bella Boutique Hotel last September 26, 2020, the first activity held outside the National Capital Region (NCR) since the COVID-19 outbreak on March.
The activity is a project of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Trade Promotions Group (TPG), Bureau of Domestic Trade and Promotion (BDTP) in coordination with DTI Regional and Provincial Offices which has been assisting MSMEs, local farmers, fruit growers and cooperatives sell their fresh produce and food products.
During the event, 14 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon and Samar showcased their choicest products, which also supports the department's "Shop Local, Eat Local, Travel Local" campaign.
The La Bella Boutique Hotel, the activity's venue is a boutique hotel cum mixed-use residential and commercial area that promotes intergenerational wellness and "wellness in mind and body for a more prosperous and joyful life!" was the reason for which healthy foods and wellness products from the CALABARZON Region were featured.
Organic coconut products, special delicacies from the Southern Tagalog Region, and tikog bags from Samar were on sale during the event.
Through the DTI-BDTP, the Bagsakan project had assisted about 93 MSMEs, farmers, fruit growers, and cooperatives from eleven regions in the country namely, CAR, 1, 2, 3, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 8, 9 and NCR with generated income of almost seven million pesos (Php7M) over the last since months.
Bagsakan project will soon have an online version with an e-commerce platform for fresh produce and chilled products in line with the New Normal business approach. (Ruel Francisco/DTI Information Office)
