NCDA leads virtual training on sports coaching for Differently-Abled Persons

QUEZON CITY, Oct. 18 (PIA) - The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) held the "Virtual Training on Sports Coaching for Persons with Disabilities" -- mentoring persons with disabilities with diverse conditions on different sports such as athletics, ball games, Boccia, including developmental and other games of adaptive sports.

Philippine Sports Association for the Differently-Abled (PHILSPADA) Executive Director Dennis Esta is working on training more trainers, and harnessing the skills of persons with disabilities in the field of sports, especially at the grassroots level. This is to prepare for  competitions in local, national, and international sports events such as the Palarong Pambansa, Philippine National Games, Para Games, and Paralympic Games.

“Through sport, persons with disabilities acquire vital social skills, develop independence, and become empowered to act as agents of change. Sport teaches individuals how to communicate effectively as well as the significance of teamwork and cooperation, and respect for others,” said NCDA Executive Director Engr. Emerito Rojas.
