'No beep card, no ride' policy on EDSA buses effective October 1

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced yesterday, October 1, the implementation of fully cashless transaction system on public utility buses in EDSA Busway System using beep cards.

QUEZON CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA) -- Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced yesterday, October 1, the implementation of fully cashless transaction system on public utility buses in EDSA Busway System using beep cards.

The No Beep Card, No Ride Policy was issued by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) through the Land Transportation and Franchising Board (LTFRB).

Said policy was created in compliance with the order of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to prevent the further spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) especially in public transportation.

Beep Card Loads are available at the MRT and LRT stations, Family Mart, and MiniStop convenience stores, Bayad Center and its affiliates, and over-the-air loading partners like BPI, UniBank, among others.

Meanwhile, DOTr guarantees no fare hike despite the use of Beep cards. (MTQ/PIA-IDPD)
