MARAWI CITY, Oct. 2 (PIA) - The Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office (LDSPPO) has intensified its operations against violators of health protocols while the province works double-time to contain the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Provincial Police Director Col. Madzgani Mukaram said the LDSPPO together with the 103rd Infantry 'Haribon' Brigade are strictly enforcing the regulations set out by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (PIATF) under the extended modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
"Wala na itong warning kung hindi huli na kaagad mula sa individual violators hanggang sa mga establishment at operators ng mga transport utilities," he said.
[There is no more warning, we will arrest immediately from individual violators to establishments and operators of transport utilities.]
Mukaram said they nabbed more than 50 violators as of 8:00 am on October 1, the first day of implementation of the extended MECQ.
Individual violators are meted with fines under the PIATF ordinance imposing P1,000, P2,000, and P3,000 and/or five days imprisonment, for first, second or third offense, respectively.
For owners of business establishment and public utility operators violating the ordinance, the fines are P2,000, P4,000, and P5,000 and cancellation of the business permit or franchise, for the first, second, or third offense, respectively.
Mukaram said 17 police stations in the first district of the province have sent one team each to Marawi to augment the police force in the city. Forces from the 82nd Infantry Battalion, 12 CMO Battalion, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion are also largely concentrated in Marawi.
The police director emphasized that they are focusing their operations in Marawi since the majority of the active COVID-19 cases in the province are from the city.
"We are supporting the PNP in implementing this ordinance so kung sino man ang makita at mahuli namin ay iniindorso namin sa pulis para maprocess yung mga dapat e file na cases sa kanila or multa na dapat nilang babayaran," said Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo II, commanding officer of the 103rd Infantry Brigade.
[We are supporting the PNP in implementing this ordinance, we will endorse to the police those we apprehended so that they can process the cases that should be filed or fines that should be paid.]
Cuerpo also called on the public to strictly observe the health protocols to slow down the spread of COVID-19.
"Strikto na pag-implementa namin sa EO para mapaabot sa ating mga kababayan na hindi dapat patigasan ng ulo ang solusyon nito. Ang solusyon nito ay sumunod tayo doon sa mga patakaran dahil itong mga patakaran ay hindi pagpapahirap at pag-aalipin sa ating mga kababayan. Ang mga alintuntuning ito ay base sa scientipikong pag aaral na ang purpose ay mahinto at maslower ang pagdami ng maapektuhan nitong pandemya," he added.

The solution is that we follow those rules because these rules are not torture and enslavement of our countrymen. These guidelines are based on scientific studies whose purpose is to stop and slow down the increase of individuals affected by the pandemic.]
Under the expanded MECQ, public transportation is temporarily suspended in Marawi City, including outbound and inbound public transportation to and in Marawi City unless commissioned as shuttle services for employees permitted offices or establishments. Restaurants are also allowed to operate but strictly for take-out and delivery only.
Wearing a face mask and face shield in public places, public offices, and commercial establishments is also mandatory.
Meanwhile, the curfew in Marawi City is 6:00 pm to 4:30 am while the rest of the province is 8:00 pm to 4:30 am. (APB/PIA-ICIC)
