CALOOCAN CITY, Oct. 26 (PIA)—All police units nationwide are now preparing for the possible influx of visitors who will go to public and private cemeteries in observance of Undas despite the order from the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Emerging Infectious Diseases to close all private and public cemeteries from October 29 to November 4, 2020 to avoid mass gathering.
PNP Spokesperson, Police Colonel Ysmael Yu said that police stations will establish assistance desks in all strategic areas in highways including public and private cemeteries.
"There will be daily patrolling thru the efforts of our PNP Highway Patrol Group and also we will have standby forces in areas prone to crime and for immediate response," he said.
Yu also pointed out the vital role of community or barangay forces with proper coordination with the local government units in securing a peaceful remembrance of departed ones by means of Barangay Police Forces who will be with barangay enforcement teams and marshalls.
In his recent directives, PNP Chief, Police General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan ordered all Regional Directors and Provincial Directors to inspect and monitor all daily activities starting today for UNDAS 2020.
"The PNP Chief is keen in monitoring the overall situations like any possible untoward incidents might happen, and this will be consolidated by our PNP Command Center of the Directorate for Operations. Likewise, all unusual incidents especially on terrorism will be immediately reported," Yu said.
Last month, the ATF EID released the Resolution No. 72 that orders closure of all public and private cemeteries and memorial parks from October 29 to November 4 or the week of All Souls' Day as part of decisive actions of the national government in containing the spread of COVID-19 infections.
