TESDA allots P1.3-M for organic farming project in former NPA lair village

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, Oct. 19 (PIA) - The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) - Isabela, in partnership with LGU San Mariano, 95th Infantry Battalion (95IB) under the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, the Isabela Police Provincial Office and the Provincial Government of Isabela, has allotted P1.3 million for an organic farming project in one of the interior barangays of San Mariano.

The organic farming project is now being implemented at barangay Dibuluan, a former lair of the New People’s Army according the military.

TESDA Isabela head Dr. Demetrio Anduyan Jr. said the project is under the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.

Anduyan said the residents will be trained on producing organic vegetables and other agriculture products.

Meanwhile, the 95IB assured that the residents are protected against the infiltration by the terrorist group New Peoples Army.

Lt. Col. Galdius Calilan, 95IB commander said barangay Dibuluan was once called by the rebels as “Bahay” or their lair where government troops recover seven drums of explosives and high powered firearms from the rebels.

Aside from the recovered explosives and firearms, Calilan said that the place was also once used as venue on the anniversary of the CPP-NPA.

At present, the place has an established patrol base of CAFGU including soldiers to ensure that the place will not be infiltrated by the rebels again.
