25 UGMO members withdraw support to CTGs

PILAR, Abra, Nov. 24(PIA) – Twenty five members of the underground mass organization (UGMO) from three barangays in this town withdrew their support to the Communist Party of the Philippines–New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) and other communist terrorist groups (CTGs).

The Militia ng Bayan(MBs) members from barangays  Nagcanasan, Ocup, and Gapang  took their oath of allegiance declaring their full support and cooperation to the government’s ‘Whole-of-Nation Approach’ to end local communist armed conflict  in the country last November 11.

The 81st Infantry Battalion, 1504th Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion headed by Company Commander Police Captain Daryl and Pilar LGU led by Vice Mayor Jaja Josefina S. Disono facilitated the surrender of these UGMO members.

Major Renante Carsano of the 81st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army encouraged everyone present in the event to be united and take responsibility to end local armed conflict.

“Everyone has the responsibility to end local armed conflict. We must all be united to have a strong foundation and not be deceived by the communist terrorist groups,” he stressed.

The barangay local government unit of barangay Nagcanasan also declared the CPP-NPA and other CTGs as persona-non-grata in the barangay through the Resolution No. 13 series of 2020.

A persona non grata tarpaulin was unveiled during the activity, which was also attended by barangays officials, and police personnel. (JDP/XADC/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
