ILOILO CITY, Nov. 11 (PIA) – The Iloilo City Government is planning to allocate funding for the vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), once it becomes available in the market next year.
City mayor Jerry Treñas said that the city government shall secure a budget in 2021 to ensure that a huge number of Ilonggo families will be given the vaccine, aside from the vaccines that will be provided by the national government.
“We will have the frontliners of the Iloilo City Hall and our barangay officials as our priority as they continue to serve the Ilonggos in this time of crisis,” he said.
He also assured the public that the city government will be able to purchase the vaccines despite not knowing when the vaccine will be made available.
Meanwhile, Treñas said that only seven cases of COVID-19 were recorded in this city on November 9, 2020. Of the figure, one case came from Antique while another case is a returning Overseas Filipino worker (ROF).
“We also recorded a total of 118 barangays without cases from November 1, and a 75 percent drop of cases compared to the data on Octobe 1 to 9,” he said.
He urged the public to remain vigilant as the city would open more businesses and would allow entry to Iloilo City. (JSC/LTP/PIA6 Iloilo/Thumbnail Photo courtesy of Jerry Treñas FB Page)
