ILOILO CITY, Nov. 10 (PIA) – The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region VI invites professional and amateur photographers based in Western Visayas to join the Rice Photography Contest organized by the agency in celebration of National Rice Awareness Month this November.
Through a post in its social media account, DA-6 enjoined interested participants to “share your advocacies through photographs, to champion farm-to-table stories to push consumption of locally-produced rice and to raise consumer awareness on the benefits of buying and eating this local rice that will lead to demand creation that may boost farmers’ confidence to continue producing safe and quality rice."
Deadline for submission of entries is November 20, 2020.
Contest rules: (1) Entry shall focus on this year’s celebration theme which is “Grow Local. Buy Local. Eat Local” (2) A contestant can submit only one entry (3) Post the photo on Facebook with title and brief description (4) Include a hashtag #SupportOurRiceFarners and mention the DA Western Visayas FB Page (5) Set post’s privacy setting to public.
Entries shall be judged on: Adherence to the theme – 30%; Creativity and Originality – 25%; Quality – 25%; Visual Impact – 15%; and, Facebook Reactions (wow, love and like) – 10%.
Prizes: 1st place – P10,000.00; 2nd place – P7,000.00; 3rd place – P5,000.00; Provincial winners (6) – P2,500.00 each; and, Consolation (10) – P2,000.00 each. All winners except consolation shall each receive 50 kilograms rice.
According to DA-6 “Let us celebrate rice and exude a ray of hope in these challenging days of our local farmers through a campaign that tells stories of compassion, conviction, and optimism, and rally the entire Filipinos to take pride in our local products and support our rice industry.”
