NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Nov. 2 (PIA) –-The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned over P52-million worth of 96-beds off-site dormitories for medical workers and quarantine isolation facilities to hospitals and the local government of Bacolod City.
Deputy Chief Implementer National Task Force Against COVID-19 Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon led the turn over and inauguration of the facilities as he visited Bacolod City and Negros Occidental for the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team meeting with local officials on COVID-19 situationer here.
Two Off-Site Dormitories with 32-beds complete with sanitation area, dining area, living area, laundry area, kitchen, water tanks, 100 KVA Standby generator and own septic tank are now ready for use by medical workers of Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
Meanwhile, two sets of 16-room quarantine-isolation facilities were also turned over to the local government of Bacolod which will serve as temporary shelter for the isolation and treatment of COVID-19 positive patients.
The Quarantine-Isolation facilities in Barangay Alijis in Bacolod City come with nurses’ station, utility room, male medical staff quarter, female medical staff quarter, sanitation area, water tanks, 100 KVA standby generator, and own septic tank.
“It’s a beautiful isolation facility for the health workers and it will really provide our health workers with a very relaxing space for them to relax after a such a stressful experience in dealing with COVID-19. This will also protect them and their families because now they can isolate themselves for two weeks before they go home. We’re very happy with what DPWH has done,” Dizon said.
On the other hand, DPWH 6 regional director Engineer Lea Delfinado said that apart from the turned-over facilities, DPWH still has ongoing projects at the Cadiz District Hospital, La Carlota City, Kabankalan and an upcoming facility at Valladolid District Hospital. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
