QUEZON City, Nov. 10 (PIA) – The Philippine is getting ready once the vaccine for COVID-19 is available with the Philippine National Vaccine Roadmap (PNVR), approved by President Rodrigo Duterte on November 5 presented by National Task Force Chief Implementor and Vaccine Czar, Secretary Carlito Galvez.
Presidential Spokesperson Secretary Harry Roque during Monday's virtual press briefing said that the roadmap’s selling point and key considerations are safety, efficacy, sensitivity, cost and complexities of supply chain requirements, access for clinical trials, regional/local production and distribution, complexities on the ground preparation and implementation, world supply, and demand on the vaccine.
He also pointed out the major stages of PNVR starts off with the most critical stage of Scientific Evaluation and Selection to be done by the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The second stage is the access and acquisition to be led by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Finance (DOF). The third stage is the procurement Process by the Procurement Service of the Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM). The fourth stage is the distribution and deployment, Implementation, and National Vaccination headed by DOH with the assistance of the national/local government agencies and local government units. The last stage is the Assessment, Evaluation, and Monitoring to be spearheaded by DOH, DOST, and University of the Philippines-National Institute of Health (UP-NIH).
“Eto po kasi ay pinaghahandaan na natin yung pagkakaroon ng bakuna no, so konting tulog nalang po baka malapit na po tayong magkaroon ng bakuna pero samantala po ha, alalahanin po natin yung hinihingi ng ating Presidente, Mask Hugas Iwas dahil ang gusto natin ay umabot tayo sa paglabas ng bakuna,” (We are now preparing for the vaccine and hopefully it will be available soon. Meantime, we should always remember what the President is asking from us – Mask, Hugas Iwas) the spokesperson reiterated.
Roque also presented the two-month Critical Timetable: from November -December 2020 the timetable must be completed and approved, and from January-March 2021, the procurement process should have been completed. (TNN/PIA-IDPD)
