TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Nov. 8 (PIA) - - - The city administrator here has expressed gratitude to the management of SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown for bringing light, joy and happiness to the public amid this pandemic that is happening around worldwide.
Atty. Romeo Calubaquib, city administrator who represented Mayor Jefferson Soriano in today's launching of the mall's centerpiece, has lauded SM management's efforts to provide a venue for its mall goers to feel the Christmas spirit amid pandemic.
"We thank SM for bringing happiness to Tuguegaraoñes. Aside from this, we thank SM also for religiously implementing all the protocols the city government has laid," Calubaquib said.
For the city government's part, Calubaquib said the curfew has been moved to 12 midnight from the then 10 PM to provide more hours for businesses to operate as one intervention to help them.
On the other hand, Rowinson Valmonte, SM assistant mall manager, said the pandemic and the recent onslaught of calamities should not hinder every Filipino to celebrate Christmas in their own little ways.
The Christmas centerpiece that was launched not only aimed to remind mall goers that life must go on and that it infuses hope, peace, love and bring joy to everyone's hearts this holiday season, according to Valmonte.
He shared that as early Christmas gifts and assistance to typhoon Rolly victims in Bicol and MIMAROPA regions, the SM has sent 15,000 'Kalinga Food Packs'.
The mall manager added that this early, the public may now nominate their modern day heroes and should their nominees be selected, gift certificates await for them.
"We also know how important it is for Overseas Filipino Workers to stay connected to their families back home and to participate in family Christmas traditions even from afar,” said Valmonte highliting that they can be reunited virtually this Christmas.
In addition, Valmonte said that they will be rolling out 'Buy Lokal Bazaar' this November to help MSMEs and local farmers cope up with the effect of the pandemic.
"The bazaar would showcase the local products of our farmers and MSMEs," he said.
The bazaar, he added, would be in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Amid pandemic, Valmonte has urged everyone to allow others to feel the Christmas vibes and see the light in the dark. "Sana, sama-sama tayo sa SM Super malls," he added. (MDCT/PIA-2)
