Visits in Naval cemeteries scheduled by barangay

NAVAL, Biliran, Nov. 1 (PIA) --  Visitations to both private and public cemeteries during the All Saints’ Day and All Soul’s Day in the municipality of Naval is scheduled by barangay.

In compliance to the mandate of the National Inter-Agency Task Force,  both private and public cemeteries in Naval are closed for the faithful and visiting families from October 29 to November 4, according to PMaj Michael John Astorga, chief of police of Naval.

At PIA-Biliran’s Pulong-Pulong Ng Bayan over Radyo Natin-Naval, PMaj Astorga said aside from maintaining checkpoints during this pandemic and  securing the residents from all forms of criminalities, the Naval police force has to ensure all cemeteries maintain the recommended capacity to avoid clustering of visitors that may probably result to possible transmission of the dreaded COVID-19, and visitors are safe in the cemeteries.

To ease burden of LGU-Naval and the police force, the Naval Catholic Church with the approval of the local government unit of Naval, made the schedules of the visitations from November 5 to November 27, 2020, at the Naval Catholic Cemetery and the Naval Municipal Cemetery.

From the schedule given by the church, the first day of the visitation which is Nov. 5, is exclusive for residents from Brgy. Haguikhikan.   Nov.  6 for residents from Brgy. Catmon; Nov. 7 for Brgy. Borac and Brgy.  Anislagan; Nov. 9 for Brgy.  Villa Caneja; Nov.  10 for Brgy. Libtong; and Nov.  11 for Brgy.  Cabungaan.

On Nov. 12, Thursday, the visitation is scheduled for Brgy. Caraycaray; Nov. 13 for Brgy.  San Pablo; Nov. 14 for Brgy.  Calumpang; and Nov. 16 for Brgy. Larrazabal. 

No visitation in the cemetery from Nov. 17 until Nov. 20.  The Catholic church set the four-day break of cemetery visits as retreat days.

Cemetery visitation resumes on Nov. 21, Saturday, which is scheduled for Brgy. Talustusan; Nov. 23 for Brgy. Agpangi and Sabang; Nov. 24 Brgy. Atipolo; Nov. 25 Brgy. P. I. Garcia; Nov. 26 for Brgy. Smo. Rosario; and Nov. 27 for Brgy. Sto. Niño.

No specific barangay is scheduled in all Sundays within the given cemetery visitations. Masses are offered at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in all Sundays of the pandemic cemetery visit and open for all those who wish to offer a mass for their departed loved ones, according to Fr.
