BFP Ilocos Norte strengthens 'Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan' during Holiday

LAOAG CITY, Dec. 31 (PIA) – The provincial office of Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Ilocos Norte continues to amplify its “Oplan Ligtas Pamayanan” (OPL) campaign in this time of Holiday season.

This continuing fire prevention advocacy is BFP’s response to the growing demand for a more adoptive, comprehensive, and immersive fire protection program for the communities, rural and urban villages.

“Tumutungo po ang aming personnel sa mga barangay at pinapaalam po namin sa mga residente ang mga nararapat na gawin para maiwasan ang sunog,” Provincial Fire Marshal Floro Obrero said in an interview.

Through OPL, residents are informed of the most common issue of emergence of fire incidents.

BFP aims to provide a holistic and scientific solution to achieve a fire-safe community with a proactive, resilient, and informed citizenry.

Under OPL is the Oplan Iwas Paputok which is a timely advocacy in the New Year celebration in the locality.

“Nagbibigay pa rin kami ng babala na kung sakaling hindi maiwasan ang paggamit ang paputok, pinapaalam namin sa kanila ang mga dapat gawin para hindi mangyari ang disgrasya. Kailangan din nilang mag-comply sa mga designated na fireworks area lamang,” Obrero added.

However, President Rodrigo Duterte just recently reiterated his stand on banning firecrackers to prevent any accident in ushering 2021.

Prohibited firecrackers are Watusi, Piccolo, Poppop, Five Star, Pla-pla, Lolo Thunder, Giant Bawang, Giant Whistle Bomb, Atomic Bomb, Atomic Triangel, Large-size Judas Belt, Goodbye Delima, Hello Columbia, Goodbye Napoles, Super Yolanda, Mother Rockets, Kwiton, Super Lolo, Goodbye Bading, Goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Coke-in-can, Pillbox, Boga, Kabasi, and other similar firecrackers.
