SAN FERNANDO CITY, Dec. 30 (PIA) -- For the past days until tomorrow, Dec. 31, personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection are conducting information campaign down to the barangay level to remind the public of safety hazards and prevent fires during the New Year revelry.
Dubbed ‘Oplan Paalala: Iwas Paputok’, they continue to remind the public not to use unauthorized fireworks like piccolo, watusi, giant whistle bomb, giant bawang, Judas belt, super lolo, lolo thunder, boga, goodbye Philippines, among others.
There are also designated selling areas for fireworks per town.
Members of the local police and fire bureau ensure the safety of these places.
Any form of fireworks display is also banned during this time of pandemic.
Mass gatherings continue to be prohibited as per omnibus guidelines for the implementation of ongoing community quarantine.
The Regional Peace and Order Council in a resolution released yesterday, recommends the strict regulation on the use of firecrackers and pyrotechnics in tne region to prevent injuries or casualties and prevent the spread of the Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health encourages the people to safely celebrate this season with the use of alternative noise-producing things at home like playing of loud music from stereo, car horns, drums, pots and pans, and the like.
But for this year, the DOH discourages the use of torotot (trumpets) or whistles to prevent the possible transmission of Covid-19 through saliva.
