KALIBO, Aklan, Dec. 30 (PIA) -- The Local Government Unit of Kalibo will be spearheading the events of the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-atihan Festival 2021, the first time in many years that the LGU will do so since during previous local administrations activities were handled by management boards and foundations.
In next year’s festivities, according to the LGU, alternative events will be introduced in compliance with health protocols set by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Despite the adjustments to conform with set health protocols against COVID-19, the LGU will also be retaining regular highlights of the celebration such as the Search for Miss Kalibo Ati-atihan.
This time, however, the search will be conducted with candidates competing virtually in Production Number, Festival Costume, Swimsuit, Evening Gown, Social Media Popularity, and Interview.
Each candidate must also present an Advocacy Project and each barangay of Kalibo will have at least one representative.
Prizes of the winning candidates will have a different source too and will be utilized for worthy purposes.
For the first time, prizes of the top 3 winning candidates will be in the form of Barangay Development Project Fund, with the declared Miss Kalibo Ati-atihan 2021 to receive P500,000.00 Barangay Project Fund; 1st Runner - Up to receive P300,000.00 Barangay Project Fund, and 2nd Runner-Up, P200,000.00 worth of Barangay Project Fund.
The Kalibo Sto Nino Ati-atihan Festival is celebrated yearly on the 3rd Sunday of January. (JSC/VGV/PIA6 Aklan)
