BINALONAN, Pangasinan, Dec. 28 (PIA) - Over a thousand agrarian reform beneficiary (ARB) farmers in Pangasinan have benefitted from the government’s Convergence on Livelihood Assistance for Agrarian Beneficiaries Project (CLAAP) that started in 2019.
Ana Francisco, provincial agrarian reform officer said the CLAAP project, which is a collaboration of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has been able to provide Php20 million worth of various livelihood assistance since last year.
“In Pangasinan, CLAAP rolled out in 2019 where it focused on live goats as livelihood, while this year, the project focused on rice production,” Francisco told the Philippine Information Agency.
Francisco said just recently, DAR Secretary John Castriciones distributed sacks of seeds and bags of fertilizers to 498 farmer beneficiaries in the province.
The project cost reached Php12.45 million.
Last year, Binalonan town's 453 beneficiaries received 906 live goats.
"This 2020, CLAAP project for palay production and marketing helped 498 beneficiaries from 11 different municipalities and cities," she added.
The DAR-DSWD CLAAP program is one of the government’s visible solutions to eradicate poverty across the country and to ensure food security for the beneficiaries. (JCR/AMB/RPM/PIA Pangasinan)
