PLGU Quirino supports DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant program

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, Dec. 31 (PIA)— In support to the Plant, Plant, Plant Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA), the provincial government  through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) distributed various kinds of vegetable seeds and seedlings to households with malnourished children, pregnant women, employees and farmers.

Plant, Plant, Plant Program aims to provide sustainable food production, accessible and affordable foods for every Filipino people through the “Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Laban sa Covid-19 “ or “ALPAS Covid-19.”

Provincial Agriculturist Florence Mangoba said a total of 180,863 seedlings were produced and 169,227 of these were already distributed as of December 11, 2020.

“These vegetables include tomato, eggplant, pepper (Pinatubo, panigang, D’janggo), ampalaya, pechay, patola, squash, katuray, upo, okra and kangkong. Some 353 sachets of seeds were also distributed for backyard gardening purposes of the beneficiaries,” Mangoba said.

Under the  food access  program, the provincial government  continues to conduct Mobile Quirino Market, bringing agricultural products and other necessities to barangays.

Moreover, assistance was given to farmers through free transportation in marketing their produce to Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Trading (NVAT) in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya purposely to dispose them in tons and at a profitable price. (TCB)
