Returning residents of Borongan city to take free antigen test

BORONGAN CITY, Dec 21 (PIA) -- Returning residents of Borongan will undergo free antigen testing once their home is qualified for home quarantine.

This is according to Mayor Dayan Agda on a presscon on December 18, 2020.

This is due to the increase in the number of Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) in the quarantine facilities.

The City Health Office and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) ask the resident LSIs or Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs) who will return to Borongan to inform them in advance so that the CDRRMO will be able to check their houses if suited for home quarantine.

Once the LSI/ROF yields negative in the antigen test, he will be able to continue the 14-day quarantine at home but still strictly observing the minimum health standards.

"The negative result of the antigen test is valid only for 1 to 8 days, so finish your quarantine at home," City Health Officer Dr. John Kelly Cainday said.

The antigen test procedure is the same as RT PCR, where swabbing will be done and the test result will be given in 15 to 30 minutes.

Mayor Agda added that Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) that will enter the city will be assessed in the border checkpoints if they need to undergo the antigen test.

APOR from the government will be tested for free, while private employees will pay P 650 and the employer will be responsible for the payment. (RDT with reports from Penelope Pomida)
