SAN FERNANDO City, Dec.14 (PIA) --Through the creation of City Resolution No.20-657, the city government here extends the deadline of the payments of all taxes, fees, and charges it imposes and collects until Dec.19.
Also, any interests, surcharges, and other penalties on local taxes that may be incurred during the extension period have been waived.
The city government in a Facebook post said, “Ang interests, surcharges, at iba pang penalities ay hindi na po sisingilin basta’t makakabayad kayo hanggang deadline.”
According to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, this aims to alleviate the adverse effect of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on the residents.
“This is to ease the burden on individuals under community quarantine, due to the severe disruption of economic activities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” the committee stated.
But despite the extension period given, the Office of the City Treasurer is still ordered to work closely with other local officials to devise an electronic payment platform for taxpayers who would want to pay in said duration.
Further, the resolution declares to defer all the activities related to either administrative or judicial cases for the collection of local revenues and the likes until the end date of Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or the Republic Act 11494 which mandates the local governments to move the statutory deadlines for the payment of taxes, fees, and charges.
