DAVAO CITY, Dec. 29 (PIA) – Kiblawan Mayor Carl Jason Rama bared that several projects have been lined up for the development of the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in the municipality where most of the indigenous peoples dwell.
Rama said that the local government unit has allotted budget for developmental projects and financial assistance particularly in the remote barangays of Abnate and Kimlawis.
He said that a P1 million budget was taken from the 20% municipal development council for the construction of the barangay hall of Brgy. Abnate.
A P2 million worth of fund was also received by the LGU from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the construction of potable water system in said barangay.
Rama added that they have also provided financial assistance worth P300,000.00 to a people’s organization in Brgy. Abnate for their livelihood projects.
The LGU has also acquired motorcycles intended to use for emergency purposes and peace and order situations.
Brgy. Kimlawis has also received P2.3 million from the 20% local development fund.
The P1 million was for the construction of the barangay hall, the P500,000.00 is for the rehabilitation of their roads, while the P800,000.00 is for the concreting of their farm-to-market road (FMR).
Apart from these projects, Rama bared that the LGU has provided farming tools and seedlings to the barangay residents.
The local chief executive also mentioned that they have reached out to the indigenous people’s (IPs), and consulted them about their problems and concerns on the programs and services of the government that haven’t reached their barangays.
They have also consulted with the barangay officials and IPs and in coordination with the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Army AFP and the different national government agencies for the upcoming IP Summit.
Rama said that he wants to involve the community and the different government agencies with regards to the problems and concerns of the residents in the GIDA barangays. (PIA-XI/Samantha Jabol)
