PASIG CITY, Jan. 27 (PIA) -- Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chair Benhur Abalos and his family have undergone mandatory quarantine following the "untimely" death of his mother due to COVID-19 on Monday.
In a statement sent to the PIA-NCR, the MMDA expressed its condolences to its Chairman on the passing of Corazon De Castro Abalos, stating that, "for the untimely demise of his mother... after a long fight with COVID-19."
"Mommy Cora, as she was fondly called, died of severe sepsis, secondary to pneumonia due to COVID yesterday, January 25," the MMDA said.
"As she was tested positive for COVID-19 the night before her passing, Chairman Abalos and the entire family have undergone quarantine and another swabbing, in accordance to the existing health protocols," it added.
The MMDA said service and mass schedule shall be finalized after everyone in the family is cleared of the coronavirus disease.
"The family humbly requests those wishing to send flowers to wait for the announcement with regards to the final arrangements," the MMDA added. (PIA NCR)
