CHO: Vaccination of CdeO frontliners, seniors seen in July

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Feb. 24 --The vaccination for health care frontliners and senior citizens here is expected to start in July this year.

During the regular City Hall press briefing, acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery confirmed the projected schedule for the city’s vaccination rollout.

The vaccination schedule came amid pronouncements by the national government that the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines may arrive in the last week of February or early March.

Among those prioritized for the vaccination rollout based on their number of COVID-19 cases were the National Capital Region (NCR), Calabarzon, Davao Region, Central Visayas and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Dr. Nery said they are finalizing their preparations for the rollout including coordinating with the city’s nine private and public hospitals in conducting their own separate vaccination drills for their health care frontliners and medical support staff.

Meanwhile, these hospitals also committed to set up their own vaccination centers for their employees.

A community vaccination drill is scheduled to be conducted on the third week of March at Barangay Macasandig covered court.

About 15 elementary and high schools in 15 barangays in the city’s upland, central district, east and west barangays were identified as potential vaccination venues but have yet to be inspected. (CIO)
