CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 4 (PIA) -- Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian on Wednesday said the city has been following the guidelines given by the National Government for the vaccine rollout anytime soon.
“The flow, we follow the DOH [Department of Health] protocol. We followed every single thing that the National Government gave us,” Mayor Rex emphasized during the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 and the Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team visit to check the city’s readiness in executing its immunization plan against the coronavirus disease.
Gatchalian said their “flow” is consistent with the COVID-19 Vaccine Roadmap, the government’s national deployment, and vaccination plan.
To ensure that the standards and protocols are being followed, the DOH earlier conducted regional training on the vaccination program. The Valenzuela City Government had actively participated in the very important endeavor.
Based on the vaccine roadmap, “all local government units should establish or revitalize its current Incident Command (IC) structure to include a dedicated arm for vaccination. A Technical Working Group (TWG) should be formed under the Office of the Mayor to guide the localized implementation plan. The City/Municipal Health officer shall lead the TWG on immunization.”
Local Health Offices, for their part, must conduct initial planning to determine the eligible populations for vaccination in designated areas, identification of implementing units, identification of human resources to be utilized, estimation of vaccine requirements, and logistics planning.
While local governments must develop their distribution plan appropriate for their situation which will then be gathered by the Task Force for a comprehensive national chain and logistics plan for COVID-19 vaccination.
Moreover, the procurement and roll-out of COVID-19 vaccines must be coordinated with the national government, through the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF) and the DOH, in a tripartite agreement involving local governments and pharmaceutical companies. (PIA NCR)
