SAGUDAY, Quirino, Feb. 6 (PIA)—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here announced that the bamboo ordinance of this municipality has already been endorsed to the Sangguniang Bayan for its first reading.
Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Efren A. dela Cruz said this was confirmed by Mayor Marcelina M. Pagbilao during their visit to the municipality over the weekend for the DTI’s regular Price Stabilization and Buy Local, Go Local Advocacies.
Recently, the DTI visited the local government units to discuss the enactment of Provincial and Municipal Bamboo Ordinance in response to the directive of DTI-2 Regional Director Leah Pulido Ocampo to implement the Cagayan Valley Bamboo Development Project (CVDP).
Among the highlights to be included in the ordinance are the purposive and massive establishment of bamboo plantations in designated areas such as riverbanks of Cagayan River and its tributaries, watershed and forestland areas, and provision of technical, financial and marketing assistance to project beneficiaries by the LGU in collaboration with partner national government agencies.
During their meeting, Pagbilao also said that they are already implementing the Buy Local, Go Lokal program in their municipality.
Furthermore, the town’s executive also told the DTI that they are advocates for the empowerment of consumers through the installation of Price Boards which were provided by the DTI last month. (MDCT/TCB/PIA 2-Quirino)
