CALOOCAN CITY, Feb. 6 (PIA) -- "Ang pangamba ng tao ay kinokompronta ng mga lider. Dahil ang lider ang sinusunod ng tao."
This was the remark of Manila Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso on Thursday, February 4 when he talked before 70 families from Sampaloc, Baseco Compound and Sta. Ana who have been victims of fire.
Domagoso, together with Vice Mayor Maria Sheilah 'Honey' Lacuna-Pangan, distributed grocery packs and P10,000 cash assistance to each family.
Prior to the distribution, Domagoso took the opportunity to boost the public’s confidence on COVID-19 vaccines, saying that the best thing he and other leaders could do would be to get vaccinated first.
The mayor said this would assure people that the COVID-19 vaccine was safe.
“Para maipakita naming mga taong gobyerno na seryoso kami sa bakuna, ipapaturok muna namin sa sarili namin ang bakuna. Ito ay para mapanatag na ang inyong kalooban kapag nakita n'yong itinurok na sa amin,” Domagoso said.
To recall, Domagoso said in an interview on ANC’s Headstart last month that he was willing to be vaccinated publicly with any brand of vaccine that would be approved and certified safe by the national government’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Mayor explained that leading by example would be the best way to encourage people to get vaccinated, too.
Under Domagoso's leadership, the City of Manila has created a comprehensive vaccination roadmap.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mayor, local government officials, and the Manila Health Department (MHD) have made sure that other vaccination programs continue. While waiting for the COVID-19 vaccines, the city government has led the staging of mass vaccination simulations. (MPIO/PIA-NC)
