According to Provincial Director Elpidio Mamaril Jr., this aims to provide those in the far-flung communities with their specific needs and then promote employment as they are equipped with necessary skills.

“Part ito ng scholarship program ng Special Training for Employment Program. When they are given necessary skills ay magamit nila kapag binigyan sila ng gamit para makapagsimula rin ng maliit na negosyo,” Mamaril said in an interview with the Philippine Information Agency.

He added, “In a way, this is to tell them that the government is not sleeping and that the government is here to provide interventions for them.”

Sapdaan was endorsed by the Joint Regional Task Force ELCAC in the Ilocos Region and the Provincial Government of La Union as it is classified as a geographically isolated and disadvantaged area.

Mayor Magno Wailan expressed his gratitude to TESDA for bringing the various programs in their community as it is very beneficial among his constituents.

“Yung ibang nag-training din noon, may mga trabaho na ngayon. Maraming salamat sa pagdadala ng mga ganitong programa dito sa aming bayan,” the local chief executive said.

Meanwhile, along with the distribution of said starter kits is the awarding of the training certificates that was led by the Deputy Director-General Gabriel Luis Quisumbing, Regional Director Vincent Cifra, PD Mamaril and their personnel. (JCR/VHS/CGRC, PIA LA UNION)
