QUEZON CITY, Feb. 24 (PIA): Mimaropa’s Department of Health-Center for Health Development and the Philippine Information Agency aim at bolstering its contribution to the global and nationwide advocacy on Covid-19 vaccination.
On February 26, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, both agencies and other partners will be holding the Mimaropa Virtual Town Hall Meeting to dispel myths and support correct information about the roll-out of the vaccination program against Covid-19.
Mimaropa healthcare frontliners, as well as local chief executives, are encouraged to join the Town Hall Meeting via Zoom.
Parties may express their interests in joining the zoom meeting by sending e-mails at covid19vaccinequestion@gmail.com.
At the upcoming Town Hall meeting, UP PGH’s Infectious Disease Specialist Antonio Miguel Dans MD will tackle vaccine safety and efficacy while Dr. Marion A. Kwek, chairperson of the Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Inc – Health Education Committee will take care of the subject vaccine mechanism of action and evidence.
Food and Drug Administration Southern Luzon Cluster Head Director Arnold Alindanda will discuss the vaccine selection and approval process, while Covid-19 vaccine and adverse reactions will be taken up by Dr. Maria Carmela Kasala, former president of the Philippine Society of Allergy Asthma and Immunology.
Also joining the panel of resource persons is Regional Field Office IV-B Supervisor Ms Luzviminda Atienza.
Earlier, DOH-CHD Mimaropa and other agencies shared the positive outcome of a recent survey on the vaccine roll-out among health workers in the region.
Three hundred and sixty-five healthcare workers from regional health units, hospitals and other health facilities took part in the survey: 74 percent are willing to be vaccinated; 69.9 percent trust the incoming vaccines and 77.8 percent believe that the vaccine will be good for them.
The region also accomplished more than 85 percent coverage of the 2020 Supplemental Immunization Activity despite restrictions due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Further, Mimaropa today is second to the lowest infection rate among all regions as reported by the Office of Civil Defense Mimaropa in one of the recent Regional Task Force for Covid 19 Mimaropa Meetings. (LP)
