CAMIGUIN, Mar. 3 (PIA)--With the issuance of the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) Resolution No. 101, dated February 26, Gov. Jurdin Jesus Romualdo issued Executive Order No. 75 series of 2021 or the Order Requiring COVID-19 Testing for Travel to the Province of Camiguin.
In the said EO, persons traveling to the province for essential or work-related purposes must present a negative result of their reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test taken within 24 hours by a licensed testing facility.
Persons who fail or are unable to comply with such shall not be allowed to enter the province, unless they elect to undergo 14-day quarantine for such period of time and at such place determined by the appropriate local health authority.
“EO 75 shall not be interpreted to allow travel to the province for non-essential, leisure, and tourism purposes, which the Provincial Government does not yet permit and which shall be the subject of other executive orders and/or ordinances,” Romualdo added.
As for the issues raised on the cost of RT-PCR that will be shouldered by the authorized persons outside of residence (APORs), Romualdo said the province will just require the antigen testing from the government employees noting that the local government unit (LGU) has recorded a significant number of COVID-19 confirmed cases from the said sector.
While waiting for the antigen test kits, the LGU will temporarily use the rapid tests. “Kung positive ka sa antigen, diretso dayon ka i-RT-PCR, hulatan ang results then you have the choice kung diri ka mag-quarantine or muuli ka,” the governor said.
(If you tested positive from the antigen test, you will immediately be tested via RT-PCR. We will wait for the results then you will be given the option to either have your quarantine here or you will go back home)
Romualdo said the LGU observes such practice since the province only has 10 COVID-19 beds and 10 ventilators; making it difficult for the LGU to handle a lot of COVID-19 patients, most especially the severe cases.
On the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines, Romualdo said the province has allocated P30 million, Mambajao spared P6 million, and the other four towns allocated P1 million each. Camiguin has a total allocation of P40 million for the vaccine.
As for plans on opening the doors for tourism, Romualdo said the province will launch the Safe and Clean Camiguin Quick Response (QR) code that will complement the application used by the Department of Health (DOH) to monitor movements of people.
As of March 2, the province has recorded five COVID-19 confirmed cases, who are currently placed at Mambajao and Mahinog isolation units. There are 268 persons with history of travel or COVID-19 exposure of which 216 are from Mambajao, 22 from Mahinog, 8 from Guinsiliban, 2 from Sagay, and 20 from Catarman. (RTP/PIA10)
